The Quad Artera preamplifier was bought as a volume control for my new Elac Navis arb-51 active speakers. The synergy of the Yamaha cds 2100 sacd player through the Quad and Elacs is more than I could have hoped for. The sound quality of the preamplifier has totally amazed me for the money. The sound is big, open, clean and clear and so much more detail can be heard big and small. Details I didn't even know was on the recordings... The sound is full of so much energy no matter what music is playing. But what's really blown me away is the flexibility of the tone settings allowing me to finally get round the poor acoustic room issues I have. No matter what position I set them they never sound harsh, hard or bright! Just stays clean and clear and so enjoyable. A real bargain at the price and very highly recommended if your after a pure analogue preamplifier.
