New Arcam AVR and Solo

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Arcam have been busy, very busy.

Not only are they preparing to launch the new Solo Music and Solo Movie one box HiFi's they have also just surprised us with the new AVR550 and AVR850 AV amps!

Due to launch before Christmas, the 2 new models both are Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 capable with 7 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs. 4K (UHD) HDMI2.0a with HDCP2.2 with Class G amplification on the AVR850.

Also included on both models is the latest room correction technology from Dirac Research. Dirac Live gives you the flexibility to tune the amplifier to your room acoustics, further enhancing your listening experience and ensuring you get the best performance from your Arcam AVR.

As well as a host of other inputs, Arcam have included a DAB/DAB+ tuner and pre outs for a 2nd zone.

The AVR550 with retail at £2400.00 and the AVR850 at £4200.00.

Not content with just AVR's, Arcam have also announced a rather interesting Stereo receiver called the SR250. With all the benefits of an AV receiver without the surround sound processing.

We have noticed a trend in people turning back to 2 channel systems, even if they are big movie fans. Some rooms do not warrant the extra surround sound speakers and, more often than not, 2 channel amplifiers sound better playing music than their AV counterparts.

Arcam's solution for this is the SR250. Pure 2 Channel 120wpc Class G performance, with 7 HDMI inputs so you can connect all your AV equipment, HDMI2.0a with HDCP2.24K “Ultra HD” and 3D video capabilities are built in so you can enjoy all your AV content on a true audiophile amplifier. Dirac Live room correction, Spotify Connect, UPnP streaming and Network control. It really is an AVR without the extra channels!

Due to be released in November, the SR250 retails at £2500.00.

More you say? OK then! The long awaited Solo Music and Movie are also due for release anytime now! At £1500 for the Music and £2000 for the Movie, the one box solution market just got interesting again.

Fully equipped to drive any speakers, the new Solo products boast Class G amps, Bluetooth and UPnP streaming, DAB/DAB+ tuners, CD/SACD or Bluray playback all in a stylish, modern design. One of the only true audiophile single box units.

That's it, for now anyway!
