At Harrow Audio, we take immense pride in offering expertly crafted audio solutions that deliver exceptional sound and design innovation. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Epos ES7N, the newest addition to our premium loudspeaker collection and the latest expression of Epos’ revered return to the high-fidelity market in the UK.
Following the phenomenal success of the award-winning ES14N, the ES7N marks the next chapter in Epos' visionary three-model range. This latest bookshelf speaker has been designed for real-world settings, without compromising on audio quality, and is now available for demonstration in our Watford showroom.

The Next Generation of Compact High-Performance Speakers
The Epos ES7N draws from the sonic pedigree of the ES14N, borrowing the same 28mm ceramic-coated aluminium dome tweeter. However, it introduces a 7" polypropylene mid/bass driver, resulting in a refined, balanced, and room-filling sound that belies its modest footprint. Housed in a front-ported cabinet, the ES7N is designed to provide versatility, making it an ideal solution for both dedicated listening rooms and living spaces with spatial constraints.
What makes the ES7N so unique is its clever adaptability. The speaker is specifically designed to sit in common shelving units like IKEA bookcases, a nod to the realities of modern interior layouts.
With a rear-mounted crossover switch, listeners can tune the speaker’s tonal balance based on its placement; whether positioned close to a wall, on a shelf, or on a dedicated stand. This intelligent design ensures that no matter where it is situated, the ES7N maintains its impressive clarity and presence.
Beautifully Engineered from the Inside Out
At just 290 x 200 x 270 mm (HWD) and weighing 7.6 kg, the ES7N is compact yet robust. The cabinet construction is one of its most thoughtful features;Crafted from dual 8mm MDF panels, it includes a high-loss damping layer sandwiched between them to reduce unwanted resonances. A strategically placed wooden block atop the cabinet helps optimise stereo imaging, while a single internal brace ensures structural integrity and acoustic quietness.
To enhance acoustic isolation, the speaker is supplied with silicon rubber spikes, and four bottom inserts accept 4mm screws for added mounting stability. The ideal stand height for the ES7N is approximately 700mm, helping to position the tweeter at ear level for most seated listening scenarios.
A particularly innovative feature is the bent port system. Although side-mounted ports can sometimes create acoustic challenges, Epos tackled this by designing a bent port that terminates between the side panels. This is coupled with damped ventilation holes to manage mid-band frequencies effectively, delivering articulate, tight bass performance.
Tailored Sound for Every Environment
The Epos ES7N UK is not a one-size-fits-all speaker. It features a unique crossover switch offering two tonal profiles:
- Top switch position - Ideal when the speaker is placed 30-50cm from a wall. This configuration produces an open, spacious soundstage with extended detail.
- Bottom switch position - Designed for placement near walls or inside shelves, helping to control boundary gain and reduce bass boom.
This flexibility, combined with a tailored response curve for either semi-free or near-wall placement, makes the ES7N highly adaptable without requiring complex room treatment or dedicated spaces.
Internally, the crossover is engineered with a high-quality blend of polypropylene, polyester, and low-loss electrolytic capacitors. Air core inductors and custom non-inductive resistors are used throughout, with every component finalised by ear; a hallmark of the Epos tradition that prioritises musicality above all.
Exceptional Driver Design and Low Distortion
The woofer is a newly developed 130mm mica-filled polypropylene cone, manufactured using injection moulding to ensure precision and rigidity. It features a low-hysteresis rubber surround and a high-temperature Nomex spider, allowing for accurate, controlled movement; even during dynamic passages.
Paired with a 30mm voice coil on a glass fibre/epoxy former and a magnet system that includes an impedance control ring, the woofer delivers clean, low-distortion performance. The dual-magnet system compensates for stray fields and increases driving force, contributing to the ES7N’s exceptional accuracy and transparency.
The tweeter, shared with the ES14N, uses a powerful ferrite magnet system and a 28mm aluminium alloy dome coated with ceramic for rigidity. With no Ferrofluid in the gap, it maintains thermal stability and reduces compression, delivering high-frequency detail with clarity and finesse.
Easy to Drive, Pleasing to the Ear
With a sensitivity rating of 86dB (free-standing) or 89dB (near-wall) at 2.83V/1m, and a nominal impedance of 4 Ohms (minimum 3 Ohms at 15kHz), the Epos ES7N is an easy load for a wide variety of amplifiers. Thanks to low phase shift and consistent impedance, these speakers can be confidently matched with everything from classic solid-state designs to modern valve amplifiers.
Finishes to Complement Every Space
We know that great sound should come with great aesthetics. The Epos ES7N is available in four modern finishes to suit any décor:
- Orange semi-matte
- Walnut
- White semi-matte
- Black semi-matte
Each finish brings a different visual character, while the understated cabinet design ensures the speaker blends effortlessly into your living space; whether it’s a minimalist apartment or a traditional lounge.
